As there are more and more high-definition movies being streamed from the internet by media-streaming services like Netflix and Hulu to their 25 million subscribers, the question is how it will affect the popularity of Blu-Ray digital video discs. How will high-definition Blu-Ray movies score against those being streamed to millions of living rooms?

Blu-Ray formatted movies have an edge over older video formats and it is unlikely that they will go away anytime soon. The reason for this is that millions of videophiles still prefer high-quality video and the state-of-the-art features that Blu-Ray players and disc provide.

Even the best services like Netflix that boasts high-definition transmission actually stream at only 1 mbps, up to 10 mbps at best, and viewed with hdmi cable for advanced use. That is roughly the equivalent of a standard DVD video playing at around 4 to 8 mbps.

On the other hand, a Blu-Ray disc can crank pixel resolutions up to 36 mbps, with image texture so clear that you can almost count the few strands of hair on Gollum’s scalp in Lord of the Rings.

Like DVD’s that have tremendously dropped in sales, Blu-Ray formatted movies are not expected to last forever. Streamed movies will eventually overtake Blu-Ray video discs when 100-mbps internet access becomes a reality.

Movies have become really expensive to go to, especially with the 3D craze that has seized Hollywood films in recent years. Some people pay more than $10 for a regular movie ticket in an average theater, and an extra $3 for 3D glasses if the movie is offered in 3D. America has become a 3D nation somehow, it seems, that expects a good movie experience to involve that three dimensional extra aspect that makes it all worth paying for. Unfortunately, there are some pretty bad movies coming out of Hollywood these days in 3D, and when you see one of those, it turns your attitude toward 3D movies around a little and wakes you up to smell the coffee of the situation we are facing. – While it can be disappointing to see a poorly done 3D movie that you’ve paid a premium price for in a theater, the next disappointment appears to be the spreading of the 3D contagion to home television sets and video game consoles. 3D television is already making its appearance in big box retail stores and electronics departments around the United States, to lukewarm reception, it seems, at least this early on. After all, we are just now getting used to the whole High Definition standard. Some stations are not even broadcasting in HD yet, so why do we think everyone is going to suddenly get on board with 3D? I’m not convinced that’s a reasonable idea at all. For one thing, I don’t generally enjoy the whole 3D experience, and I tend to prefer 2D visuals in movies and television. 3D gives me a headache. I wear glasses, too, and contacts are getting harder for me to wear since I need bifocals now, so when I watch 3D I have to wear one pair of glasses over another pair and that just isn’t very much fun really. I can’t imagine having to go through all that in my own home just to watch the latest episode of “The Big Bang Theory,” or “The Office.” What’s there to really see in 3D on any of those? And will this lead to the deliberate creation of 3D elements in television production, just to keep up, when it’s not really warranted? Will it degrade the quality of the art? I think yes. So, while the verdict is still out for the majority of TV enthusiasts, and yes, there are some 3D TVs that don’t require the donning of any glasses at all, I can tell you that I don’t plan to be one of them. At least not anytime soon.

I was thinking about how we all like to personalize our computers, and I was struggling to come up with an analogy in the real non-digital world. It’s kind of a funny thing we do where we take a very generic machine that is intended to do multiple repetitive tasks ad nausea and make it a unique individual highly personalized item. It’s kind of like were in denial about what the real purpose of the machine is. We add backgrounds, themes, wallpapers, customizations, and case mods to make it more our own. I’m not exactly sure, how sensual wallpapers or Inna wallpapers do that, but for some it seems to work.

The closest comparison I could come up with was how many car owners like to customize their automobiles. It’s a hobby that’s been going on for years, and continues to this day. I must admit, to not being immune to the whole activity. I also have a fascination for pretty screen savers, backgrounds and wallpapers. I love some good eye candy, whether it’s in a computer game, a movie, or just digital images in my photo collection. That’s usually I guy thing I think, as we seem to be more attracted to visual effects. Not sure why it is that guys like big explosions better than girls, but I’m sure there’s a perfectly good explanation for it.

Technology has made some amazing advances lately. When it comes to home appliances and consumer electronics we have access to more than ever before. An old technology that is making great advances is the 3D technology. Now we can watch true 3D at home with 3D TV.

In order to watch in 3D we will need 3D equipment. In 2010 new 3D TV sets are emerging. Most require 3D glasses although, some innovative options are on the way. We will also need a 3D movie or access to a 3D cable or satellite channel.

In order to project a 3D image the science of stereopsis is used. This technology will have radio controlled shutter glasses that open and close in sync with flashing images on the 3D TV screen. In order to view images in 3D two images must be projected on the screen at the same time. With the glasses and stereopsis the flashes are in sync with the movie and happen so fast all our eye sees is the illusion of a movie being in 3D.

If you are in a theater you will probably have non-powered Polaroid glasses which allow the eye to view two offset images. A projector will project the two different images onto the screen at the same time. This system is too expensive for home viewing so you will probably use the infrared active shutter glasses for your home 3D TV system.

Obviously you will need a HD3D LEDTV and whatever is required to watch the movie such as the appropriate 3D glasses and a transmitter for the glasses if they are active shutter glasses, which they probably are. You will also need a 3D movie source whether it is a new cable or satellite 3D channel or a 3D blu-ray movie.

Direct TV is offering some 3D options. They have a sampler channel, an on demand channel, and the ever so popular pay per view option. You may need to update your set top box firmware and make sure you have it hooked up with a 3D compatible cable, such as an HDMI 1.4 cable.

Network stations are scrambling to provide 3D channels to meet the consumer demand. ESPN and Discovery both have plans for 3D channels. As well as the big game makers such as Sony. Get those active shutter glasses ready for some real excitement.

If glasses are what you need to try it out Vuzix makes a compatible device that can show 3D from inside the glasses. You just need to hook it up to a 3D source.

A big breakthrough for the home 3D TV market will be 3D TV with no glasses required. Parallax Barrier liquid crystal technology is the most promising option in this arena. The crystal will direct the eye to different images in essence creating a 3D effect.

Now is the time for 3D. In the past 3D movies and shows have been a novelty and only recently have real 3D movie theater experiences actually been realistic. We owe a lot of the advances of 3D technology to the advance of the IMAX theater. They were trailblazers and now you can be a trailblazer in your own home with your own 3D technology.

My family just spent a lot time visiting my place, which usually translates into watching lots of movies. My brothers and I would watch free movies online all day long if my wife didn’t come along and kick us out of the place. Usually in her mind, that only means a movie or two if were lucky. Me, I’d watch movies all day long if there was no one to come along and tell me to stop. Given all my responsibilities these days though, it seems pretty unlikely that a marathon movie watching session is in store for me. So, what that does mean, is that I have to be a little more selective about the stuff I do watch. No problem. Let’s take a look at a few good movies on my hit list these days.

Now I know that Nicolas Cage can be hit and miss with his movies, but when he’s on he’s awesome. Plus, The Sorcerers Apprentice is bound to have some cool eye candy in the form of special effects. That’s always something that works for me with movies. Now if your in the mood for getting a little spooked, then it’s hard to go wrong with A Nightmare On Elm Street in it’s latest incarnation. I’m a big The Office fan, an it goes without saying that Steve Carell is a big part of the reason. So, that means Despicable Me is pretty much mandatory on my must-see movie list.

Our idea of home entertainment has certainly changed over the years, and technology has played a large role in that change. I still remember how excited I was to buy my first VCR player for home. I was still living at home, but had a new job, so I went and spent like five hundred dollars on a beta VCR player. Yep, I was one of those early adopters that actually bought one of the best video cassette recorders on the market before they became obselete. Now you can watch movies online from the comfort of your own home. No need to go the the video store, and no need to return the movies. You can watch Sex and the City 2 movie online right now on your home computer with just a few clicks of the mouse, and a flash of your credit card.

Or, you could even watch Killers (2010) movie online if that’s more to your liking. The title sounds a little nasty, but it’s a movie with a lot of comedy in it. You may want to check it out when you get a chance. Then, once your done with that one, you could watch The A-Team movie online for dessert. I used to love that TV show so much when I was younger. Sure it was campy and a bit over the top, but who can’t help but like a movie with Mr T in it?

When people go on Netflix, a lot of times they are looking for a good drama. There are a lot of different dramatic movies that you can choose from, but there are three that really stand out from the crowd when people think of dramas, and they are usually great choices for someone wants a good dramatic movie.

Titanic – The first drama that people think of when they are looking for movies on Netflex is Titanic. That wonderful movie where Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet fall in love aboard the doomed ship that sank almost a century ago.

My Girl – Another great drama that people rent on Netflix is My Girl, a story about the friendship between a boy and a girl. It stars Macaulay Culkin and Anna Chlumsky and is a movie that reduces most viewers to tears. Definitely a must see for anyone who loves a good, wholesome movie drama.

Patch Adams – This movie is based on the true story of a wonderful doctor who created the Gesundheit Institute. He believed that being a doctor meant more than wearing a white coat and having a stethoscope around their neck. Robin Williams’ performance in this movie is moving and incredible, and this is one that no one should miss.

The three dramas listed above are ones that a lot of people rent when they go to Netflix, and they are also ones that have stood the test of time. Get ready to get the tissues out when you watch them and cuddle up with your husband, because you are going to need some comforting. Dramas are something that a lot of people choose when they are looking for a good movie, because they are something that a lot of people like and most people can agree upon when renting a movie.

COMMENTS

I’ve already watched those three movies and I do highly recommend them. They are just as amazing as a multi stone ring, they will surely be worth your while.

Whether you are just starting your acting career or you are already a professional, you still have to use the same basic acting resume format. Below are guidelines on how to make a good acting resume.

When writing your acting resume, always include your complete contact information like your name, address, phone number and email address at the top of the page.

Always identify your hair, eyes, height, weight, and vocal range details just below your contact information.

List all of your past acting experiences, whether in film or theater. Write down all important information and details of all productions you’ve been a part of, whether your part was small or big. Whether it’s a movie, theater, or even commercials, make sure to list it. If you have worked with famous actors, directors, and big name theaters and companies, then make sure to include that information. This will help you to attract attention.

After your Experience section you should list information about your education and training workshops. If you have to make sub-headings then you can, and make sure to write detailed information under each sub-heading that you have. List down all that you have, as this helps a lot.

If you have received honors or awards then you can include that next to your Education and Training information.

Think of all your special skills and talents that are relevant to your field of expertise. List these in a separate section.

Before printing, review your resume again to finalize everything. Make sure to review your resume every now and then and update it too. Keep your resume current.

And of course, the last step is to print your acting resume on a short sized white sheet of paper for submission.

Just an important note when making your acting resume: don’t make your resume too long. Never write more than two pages, and always tell the truth. Don’t fabricate information just to make your acting resume stand out.
